A London woman has appeared in court for being drunk and disorderly, after more than 400 previous convictions.
Francesca Bibby, 59, of Fermain court in North London was arrested for being “drunk and disorderly” in a public place on the 2nd October 2019. Allegedly becoming aggressive with officers at Bishopsgate in the city of London.
Miss Bibby, who chose not to be represented in court, pleaded guilty to the drunk and disorderly charge at Westminster Magistrates’ court.
Police said that they received a call after complaints of a woman shouting and possibly being drunk. Her arrest came after she became angry with officers when they approached her, by shouting and screaming at them.
When she took to the stand, she said “I was loud, but I didn’t hurt anyone”. She continued to say, “I’m currently receiving help and seeing a support worker”, to which the magistrate stated, “you need to try and get some more support in order to try and stop you re-offending”.
“I’ve recently been diagnosed as partially sighted, which I’ve taken quite badly, and it’s made me feel slightly depressed” Miss Biddy said in her defence to the charges against her.
Due to being straightforward with the court, and for pleading guilty, the court took this into account. The magistrate stated, “you really need to get help, because we really don’t want to see you keep coming back to the courts”.
Miss Bibby was released, and the charges were dropped. But she was fined £100 and made aware of previous fines that she still needs to pay. Miss Biddy stated to the court that her daughter would be paying all her court fines.
